Abstract
It has been the dream of some investigators in the Medical Profession and those fields closely related to it, to find a means of preventing disease rather than treating it. Prophylactic control of disease could conserve the body immeasurable strength which is normally expended in fighting a disease process and could also prolong the life expectancy. | There are two methods of preventing disease: | 1. To diminish in number or render avirulent the organisms with which one comes into contact. | 2. To render the body so highly resistant to infection that a micro-organism succumbs to one of the defense mechanisms of the body before it can produce a disease.
