Abstract
Here is an oddity! Delpeuch is added as the "publisher" or perhaps better "editor" since Griez died in 1909. It looks on a cursory overview as though all twelve books of La Fontaine are here, apparently done into dactyllic hexameters. Here is an unusual and even odd pastime! And a major rarity for this collection! The "Au Lecteur" foreword opens this way: "The book will make so little noise in the world that there will be no need the excuse its appearance." True enough! The author was proud to have made three copies of his manuscript. One went to his brother and was sold for paperweight at the brother's death. A second disappeared in the library of the "college" where Griez taught. The third was given to the editor by the translator's own hand six months before his death. It is fun watching La Fontaine's stories go by in Latin!
