The Fox and the Porcupine

Abstract

This is a rather creative development of an old Aesopic fable. Here the bored fox goes swimming and is caught between two rocks. A porcupine offers to get him free but does so by nudging him so hard that it hurts more than the rocks did. "I appreciate you trying to help me, but you just hurt me more!" The stated moral is "Be careful that your help doesn't hurt! Always look for the best way to help someone." The publisher's symbol seems to be two purple heads reading an open red book. There is a page of vocabulary on the inside back cover, with a picture of all six books in the series on the back cover. The pamphlet is twelve pages long, about 7½" x 6¾".
