FIRST PARAGRAPH(S)|This article will present four of the more significant cases decided by the Eighth Circuit this survey period in the area of Commercial Law. The issues to be discussed include: the rights of an employer, under a terminable at will employment contract, to dismiss an employee for maintaining a lawsuit to recover compensation rightfully owed him; the right of Iowa to look to the Small Business Act in fashioning its common law; the ability of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors to consider anticompetitive factors under the Bank Holding Company Act that are more stringent than the statutory standards; and, the duty of the government to fulfill the representations it makes in the recruiting process...
