Abstract
This is to me a surprising book. I am surprised that there is a Yiddish publisher in Warsaw in 1950. And then I am surprised that the publisher puts this amount of care into a translation of Krylov's fables. As far as I can tell, not all of the twenty or so fables from each of the nine books is here, but I think I see the structure of nine books, and it seems that some half to two-thirds of the fables may be represented here. I am puzzled by the dates associated with each fable. There is a T of C at the back, and there are occasional -- presumably borrowed -- illustrations along the way. There is even an insert, perhaps a slip of errata? Now, this is an unusual find!
