INTRODUCTION|Family law has changed drastically since the turn of the century. This change has been characterized as a revolution, resulting in some uncertainty in the status of parental rights in third party custody disputes and involuntary termination proceedings. This uncertainty has accentuated the conflict between parent and child in third party custody disputes and parent and state in involuntary termination proceedings. This survey article will discuss the ways in which the Nebraska Supreme Court has attempted to resolve the conflicts be- tween parent, child and state in four recent decisions.
