Abstract
I found this book as I chanced to pass the Poruguese bookshop on my way to somewhere else in Paris. Except for being hardbound and in Portuguese, this book almost perfectly reproduces Hemma's 2004 book "Mon Beau Livre de Fables." That book is itself remarkable because it is one of six by Hemma using the same illustrations by Dosimont, dating from 1994, 1997 (2 versions), 2004, 2005, and 2007. We also have a Dutch version done by Hemma around 1998. As I wrote of "Mon Beau Livre de Fables," here acknowledged as the source of this book, the cover shows a fox lounging under a tree in which is lodged a high-hatted crow with cheese in his beak. Favorites in this nice book include the mouse-congregation (20-21), FC (38-39), "The Stag at the Pool" (64-65), and GA (70-71). The page devoted to La Fontaine (96) has a wonderfully curious expression on his face. Just after that comes the closing T of C.
