Abstract
The readings for today, especially the first reading, were tough for me. The depiction of hell in John's Revelation is both overwhelming and uplifting. What a sight to see someone completely control Satan, seized with a chain and tied up for a thousand years. Then to see the thrones ruling over the saints and the white throne separating the followers from the rest. What glory then for a 'new heaven' with the Lord. How easy for the psalmist to cry 'My soul yearns and pines for…the LORD. My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.' Luke then reminds us of the unfailing word which 'will not pass away.'|Where is the difficulty? I was taught of heaven and hell as a child, the Lord would save us, the bible would guide us, the ten commandments, the gospel, baby Jesus, the cross. The difficulty…those who don't know it.|Here it is, our decision will fall one way or the other. Whatever side we choose, try to pick the Lord's side.
