Abstract

The purpose of this literature review is to determine if simulation is an appropriate teaching method for improving nursing students’ confidence in making clinical judgements. A review of current literature in CINHAL using the following keywords nursing education, clinical judgement, simulation, confidence, decision making, nursing students, improve, advance, cultivating, and developing . Simulation provides students with the opportunity to be experience real life scenarios in a low stake, low risk environment, collaborate with peers and reflect on clinical decision making. Participation in simulation also promotes collaboration between peers and as a result, students experience an increase in confidence with making clinical decisions.
