Abstract
A marked interest in the references to the encyclicals of Pope Leo XIII by Pope Pius XI in his encyclical oil Christian education led the writer to make a study of the former’s encyclicals. Therefore, the problem selected for this thesis is to make a study of the encyclicals of Pope Leo XIII for education principles contained therein.
At this point it will be well to clarify such terms as principle and encyclical. A principle, as it will be used in this investigation, is an opinion or belief which has a directing influence on the educational process.
