FIRST PARAGRAPH(S)|As I sit down to write this dedication to my father, many fond memories come to mind. To most people, he has played many roles: lawyer, teacher, community leader and musician. To me, he has always been "Dad." His message to the world of tolerance, respect and compassion for all people, no matter their walk in life, is the same message we received at home. His work in the community to fight racism, sexism, and poverty taught my sisters, Ruth and Louise, and me that we are part of a much broader community made up of all types of people. A community in which we could participate to make better. Through his example, we learned how to define our individual importance in terms of our relationship to our community...
