FIRST PARAGRAPH(S)|On June 15, 1992, the United States Supreme Court ruled that a Mexican National forcibly removed and brought to the United States could be tried before an American Court. Humberto Alvarez-Machain had been kidnapped in Guadalajara, Mexico, and transported to the United States. The abduction was conducted by operatives hired by the United States government to bring Alvarez-Machain before the jurisdiction of a United States court. In United States v. Alvarez-Machain, the Supreme Court held that the abduction did not violate the Extradition Treaty Between the United States of America and the United Mexican States and that Alvarez-Machain could be properly tried in the United States...
