Abstract

This third of three numbered volumes offers 100 numbered fables on 105 pages after a beginning T of C. This volume's cover is green. Like the two companion volumes, the book is sturdy and well produced. The printing technique gives the Rackham illustrations -- one for about every three fables -- an over-rich hue. There is a fascinating comment on the back. We read Aesop for three reasons: to see how far we have come since ancient times; to see how far we have come as adults; to see how we have evolved from these animals. My! I am surprised by those reasons!
