Abstract
Here is an edition of a simple book by a third publisher. Apparently the 1985 first edition was done by Julia MacRae, and I have just ordered a copy. We have the second edition, done in 1991 by Beech Tree. Now we have this 2000 edition published by HarperCollins. By this time, Peter Sis is recognized as a "Caldecott Honor illustrator." As I wrote of the Beech Tree edition, this is an ingenious and well-written book which tells the puzzle-tales just right, from "How can you get the wolf, goat, and cabbage across the river unharmed?" to good detective stories. Aesop's CP fits right in. Another surprising place where Aesop is right at home!
