Abstract
Located in Our Lady's chapel at the Benedictine abbey, Einsiedeln, Canton of Schwyz, under direct authority of the Holy See. It is a place of pilgrimage. The miraculous images dates from the middle of the fifteenth century. The natural color of the original became dark in the course of time, and in 1799 the face of Mother and Child were painted black.
