Fables de La Fontaine, Tome II

Abstract

There are already two copies of this magnificent second volume in the collection. This copy is again slightly unlike both the copy from Safari in San Diego and that from Mr Diggy in Schaumburg, IL. This copy has as its frontispiece the frontispiece featured in the Schaumburg copy of the first volume. Might the bookbinder in the case of the Schaumburg copy simply have mixed up the two frontispiece pages? This copy differs from the Safari copy in having a frontispiece. Again, this copy is remarkably clean. No foxing! Its spine is tender. A beautiful book. As I wrote about the first volume, at an inexpensive price on Ebay, I could not resist!
