Abstract

Four of the cycles of the Roman de Renard are presented here in a large (9" x 12¾") edition for children: the well; fish; the cock; and the lion. Illustrations touching on fables come up around the well, with the wolf experiencing his tail frozen in the ice; and in several scenes with Chanticleer. This edition finishes with Renard's public repentance at the court, after which, on the way home to his wife and children, he almost kills some chickens. He, however, remembers his promise at court and keeps on his way.
