INTRODUCTION|The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals recently analyzed the exercise of long-arm jurisdiction under the glare of federal due process in a case where the plaintiff's cause of action was not closely related to the defendant's contacts with the forum state. The case, Land-O-Nod Co. v. Bassett Furniture Industries, Inc., involved a trademark infringement claim, filed in Minnesota by a Minnesota corporation against two nonresident corporations. The defendant corporations have substantial business contacts in Minnesota, but did not sell the allegedly infringing product there.
