Abstract

Service-learning integrates community service, didactic instruction, and reflection and is well-suited to the needs of adult learners(Seifer & Connors, 2007). Theoretically, service-learning benefits both the students and the community partner. It is essential to ensure the needs of the community partner are met through the servicelearning process and students’ learn the importance of community engagement and civic responsibility as well as application of didactic concepts. The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a service-learning assignment on the OT Students’ perception of skills learned and the effectiveness of the program from the community partners’ perspective.
