Abstract
In view of the important role which Nature plays in the works of William Wordsworth and Thomas Hardy, it is not surprising that this influence was predominant in their lives, and that the resulting impression greatly affected their works. It may be interesting to note that the poet William Wordsworth saw only Beauty in Nature, and, enjoyed nothing more than to "look through Nature up to Nature's God"; that Hardy's nature is contradictory, since not only the Beauty but also the Cruelty of her impressed him deeply. The influence of both philosophies, which embraces direct communion with, as well as love of, Nature was respectively tremendous on the writings of both poets.
