Abstract
Background:|From a healthcare education perspective, many accrediting bodies now require
Interprofessional Education (IPE) as best practice for achieving safe, high quality patientcentered
care (1,2,3,4). In response, Clarkson College began requiring all in-coming
students (undergraduate and graduate, on-campus and distance) to complete a new
online course, IPE 301, throughout their time at the College. This graduation requirement
consists of: a) four online modules with lecture, videos, note-taking guides and quizzes
(completed during their first semester); b) pre-, mid-, and post-test Interprofessional
Collaborative Competencies Attainment Survey (ICCAS); and c) participation in three IPE
events with written reflections (categories include knowledge, community and service).
The purpose of this project was to evaluate the outcomes for 402 students beginning the
IPE course in that initial year of implementation, 2018-2019.
