Abstract

This pamphlet of eight unpaginated pages contains two stories, TH and "Dogs and Cats." The former is a segment of a work already in the collection, "My Book of Fairy Tales and Fables," from Brown Watson. For that work, I had guessed a publication date of 1978. As I commented there, the hare and the tortoise first talk of a "race to the end of the world," but settle on a nearby tree trunk as a goal. The hare sleeps before he even takes a step! This all happened back when competitions were held only among animals. I find it curious that this large (about 8" x 10¾") pamphlet was printed in the German Democratic Republic. Its cover features a cat writing an Italian note in front of a dog. The world of publication history has its curiosities!
