Abstract

This book represented one of my two big "splurges" on this trip, and both happened in the same shop. Not only does our collection not have this lovely book; it is llisted in neither Bodemann nor Bassy. The illustrations include "The Forest and the Woodman" (frontispiece); "The Astrologer Who Falls into the Pit" (26); FG (50); "The Monkey and the Dolphin" (73); "The Little Fish and the Angler" (104); SW (125); MM (153); "The Bear and the Lover of Gardens" (183); "The Oyster and the Litigants" (227); "The Digger and His Partner" (255) "The Farmer, the Dog, and the Fox" (288). These steel engravings may be the most remarkable feature of this well-preserved old book. 402 pages. 4" x 6¾".
