Abstract
Originally copyrighted in 1943, this hardbound book is, I believe, especially valuable because Iriarte is seldom illustrated. Here there is a black-and-white full-page illustration about every four or five pages. There is also a smaller design of a child, book, ball, and cat on 121. And there are colored full-page illustrations at 30, 46, 78, and 94. I am surprised after checking online that Iriarte wrote only the sixty-eight fables offered here on 123 pages. There is a T of C of them at the end of the book. 5¾" x 8". This book has a colorful cover featuring a parrot with a scholar's mortarboard cap; the black-and-white line drawing for that scene is on 35.
