Abstract

First Paragraph: Providing an equatorial telescope with an efficient driving clock, and bringing the clamp and slow-motion screws on both axes down to the eyepiece, appear to be so exclusively the work of a professional mechanic, that probably not one of the readers of this magazine has ever attempted to construct these attachments, however much be may have felt their want in his own instrument. While the problem is really a very difficult one, it is by no means beyond the attainments of an amateur, who, together with a considerable amount of skill in the handling of tools, is possessed of an indomitable perseverance.
