FIRST PARAGRAPH(S)|As federal court dockets expand with ever increasing numbers of diversity jurisdiction cases, federal judges and other commentators have indicated a need for reform. The most drastic approach of such reforms is to completely abolish diversity jurisdiction. While this debate continues, however, a serious issue is developing in the federal courts regarding the proper standard in calculating the amount in controversy and deciding whether a case can properly be removed to federal court.
