"God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, So that everyone who believes in him might not perish But might have eternal life..."||How blessed we are who have come to know Jesus, the only-begotten Son, of God! And we have come to know Him because of God's inspiration through the Apostles....and all the other women and men who have listened, heard, and carried the message of God's great love for us in Jesus, the Christ.|We all live in families and communities where this wonderful "Miracle of Grace" is understood a little differently because of who each of us is...and because of what has happened in our lives.|In my extended family some persons know and relate to God mainly through the Old Testament understanding of the God and "justice" is the predominant theme. Others, have come to know Jesus more closely and "gratitude and love" are the predominant themes by which Jesus, the Son of God are known.|"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him...."|There is still much to be done by each of us to carry the great message of the Resurrection and its promise of God's love and forgiveness to our families and communities. I believe that some people have a very hard time understanding God's love and forgiveness because of the abuse and mistreatment they have known in their lives. They may be so "internally bruised and battered" that they are afraid to love...and to forgive.|This being the state of our world, we -- who are so blessed -- have the privilege of sharing God's love and forgiveness with others. We can continually ask God that there might be many gentle interventions of grace for those who "cannot yet see" the miracle of God's love and forgiveness in the Person of Jesus.|Let us pray: Father, today we reflect on the great gift You have given us ... your only-begotten Son...so that we might be saved through Him. Open our eyes ... through the love that you bestow on us ... and let us be a gentle light for others to come to know your Son, Jesus, and His love and forgiveness. Amen.
