Abstract

The period 1958-1959 was a momentous one for Spain. This period witnessed the emergence of national decisions having a salutary impact upon the social, economic, and political life of the nation. And there are many indications that the changes occurring so far are merely the initial stages of a thorough-going revitalization of a closed society and a stagnant economy. | This study provides a contemporary view of this newly-energized Spanish economic system, with particular attention to its emerging market economy. | The approach will be of an exploratory and descriptive nature, supplemented by comparative and analytical techniques where appropriate. It is hoped that the result will be a reasonably accurate appraisal of the present status and future potentials of this last great untapped market of Europe.
