INTRODUCTION|For many people, the single most important issue facing the United States and the world is the nuclear arms race. The escalation and proliferation of nuclear arms has had a sobering impact upon mainline Christian Churches, both Catholic and Protestant. Out of this context have emerged nuclear arms protests characterized by the words of Isaiah, the Old Testament prophet.
