Abstract
Since its discovery, the Epitaph of Allia Potestas has posed many questions. Its explicit eroticism and the polyandry among Allia and two young men have aroused many scholarly debates. In this paper, I incorporate artistic, literary, epigraphic, and legal evidence to argue that this eroticism was acceptable in the Roman context; meanwhile the polyandry may have been legal.
