Abstract

This is a beautiful old book with a warm cover including MSA and MM and lovely silhouettes of WC and MM on its endpapers. Its special feature lies in the three movable pictures among the twenty fables. One of these is fully operative: The fox wags his tail and the crow wags his head (8). One is partially operative: the goose lays an egg, even though her farmer has lost his arm (34)! The dog and wolf have lost their connections (26). There may have been other movable pictures on heavier paper at various points in the book. Other fables have good silhouettes, consistent with those on the endpapers. The cracked pot on 31 is especially expressive. 41 pages. 7" x 9¾". Canvas bound.
