Abstract
Of the twenty stories in the 1952 edition, this edition chooses fifteen. It drops Why the Bear Has a Stumpy Tail, How the Finch Got Her Colors, Li'l Hannibal, Mr. And Mrs. Vinegar, and The Old Man, His Son, and the Donkey. Of fables, four remain: FS, The Fox and the Goat, BW, and LM. Their texts and illustrations seem identical with those of the earlier editions. This edition anticipates the layout and art of the early pages of the book that will be found in the 1969 edition. Of course, the old man and his son are still on the endpapers on their donkey! The T of C at the beginning has added page numbers.
