In the Fall of 2009 staff from the Student Activities Office sought to provide more accessible, directed, and mission focused leadership development to the campus community. Based on research from the Multi-Institutional Study on Leadership (MSL) and various effective models for leadership education, the Emerging Leaders Program and Emerging Greek Leaders Program were born. In the Spring of 2010, the Wareham Program was created to address women and leadership, and in the fall of 2010, EQV was created to assist in men’s development at the University. Presently, each program is offered in five sessions, making it easy and accessible for most students. Based on Chris Lowney’s Heroic Leadership text, the programs seek to develop leaders in the Ignatian tradition by discussing the four major components of leadership as described by Lowney: Self-Awareness, Ingenuity, Love, and Heroism.en_US
