Abstract
Here is the third copy I have of this book. It is distinct from the Bücherwurm copy with its cloth cover; it shares rather with the Knüpfer copy in having paper covers. On these paper covers, the design of the tree on the front cover extends beyond the border of the framing line. What distinguishes this copy from the Knüpfer copy is the color of the cover, brown paper rather than orange. This copy is also less worn. As I wrote about the other two copies, this is a lovely little volume containing sixty fables, all but one (the first: GA) with a very engaging black-and-white silhouette. Some of my favorite little silhouettes include the cover/frontispiece illustration of Aesop speaking to a group, "Death and the Woodman" (12), LM (28), AD (30), FK (46), GGE (70), and "The Rat and the Elephant" (104).
