Abstract
Here is very much the kind of inexpensive La Fontaine that one might expect from Larousse. The book seems to lack a date of publication. One of the 16 pages of advertisements offers a history up to 1922, and so I will guess at that date. Maurice Morel provides an introduction and notes. There are four pages of inserted, unpaginated, double-sided Oudry illustrations. These look almost photographic in character. The best pair, I believe, faces 80 and 81: "The Crow Imitating the Eagle" and MSA. The spine has almost completely disintegrated. 5½" x 8". 158 pages, with a T of C at the end.
