INTRODUCTION|The collegiate press is big business. In the state of Nebraska alone, the newspapers of the University of Nebraska system and the state colleges reach more than thirty-four thousand readers. In some communities the collegiate press exceeds the circulation of the local newspaper. |On public college campuses the newspaper may serve as a bulletin board for administrative and student notices. It may also provide a sounding board for a wide range of ideas generated both on and off campus. Campus newspapers have crossed the line of common decency, but nevertheless have been held to be protected under the first amendment of the United States Constitution from censorship...
