Abstract

With individuals with Alzheimer's and dementia, environmental modifications are a common intervention used. This study aims at finding the effectiveness of environmental modifications in living environments on behavior with people with Alzheimer's or dementia. To test this hypothesis that environmental modifications in living environments are effective, a review was conducted on peer reviewed articles. Results concluded that environmental modifications helped in wandering, sleep cycles, less accidents and risky behaviors. These results suggest that environmental modifications are effective for improving behavior for individuals with Alzheimer's and dementia. However, further research and studies need to be conducted.
