Abstract

Since 1929, when the Sisters of Mercy of the United States decided to amalgamate, the problem of teacher training has received increasing attention by those interested in the welfare of the Institute. It is the object of this thesis to attempt the construction of a satisfactory four-year teacher-training curriculum which will fulfill the certification requirements of the States represented in this province at the same time leading to a Ph. B. degree. Beginning with the postulancy the first three years of the course are devoted to pre-service training which should be completed by the end of the second semester following the Sister's first profession. The one year of in-service work should be finished by the time the Sister makes her final vows.
