Abstract

Here are 26 fables, numbered with Roman numerals and listed on the final T of C. Many fables have two-word titles, like "The Greedy Dog" or "The Vane Crow." The color work in this fragile book is brilliant, with large, simple fields of red, blue, green, yellow, and black. There are two to three designs on every page, and they are beautifully done. For example, there is a strikingly beautiful mosquito with pronounced eyelashes in Fable XII. "The Horse and Ass" are very well presented in Fable XIII, as is "The Frog and the Mouse," Fable XIV. I am delighted that Francesca Tancini recommended this book to me. Earlier fables are generally two pages long, and later fables three pages long. 66 pages. 8" x 9¾". Meant for six-year olds. "Clasio" is apparently "Chiasso."
