Abstract
Here is the second half of Bodemann #342.2, which is listed right after the first edition first printing of Gustave Doré in Paris by Hachette. This pair of volumes may outweigh anything else in the collection! Each volume weighs about 11½ pounds! Shipping to the USA cost as much as the pair of volumes. Everything about this edition is meant to be "prachtvoll": size, covers, binding, and particularly quality of illustrations. Among my favorite illustrations in this volume, covering Books VII-XII, are MM (73); "Two Doves" (150); and "Two Goats" (302). Each full-page illustration has a slipsheet. Bodemann mentions that the illustrations are notably dark. While that may be true, I find Doré always and congenitally dark. This is a book to show off! 11¼" x 14¾". 382 pages.
