Abstract
This is one of those ephemeral fable materials that I am very happy to save from the dumpster. It is a paperbound book of 72 pages, with a cover indicating the series but not the subject of this specific issue. In fact, the booklet offers the artwork of pupils seven to fourteen years of age in response to Lessings's fables. Other collections are not likely to have this booklet! The first works shown are in color. Several, like the FK illustration on the title-page, are beautifully crafted. From page 10 on, the works are presented in black and white, together with texts of Lessing's fables. My top choice among these is "The Lion with the Donkey" (45). What an unusual stance for the lion in this fable! 5¾" x 8".
