Abstract

This ten-page 6½" square stiff-board book has a new concept. One element on each pair of pages lacks a bit of the surface paper and so is indented. One can run one's finger along this colorful trail or set of footprints. On the cover it is the yellow path leading from the hare to the tortoise. In this version, Tortoise is still munching on a leaf when the race starts. At the halfway mark, Hare decides to catch his breath until he sees Tortoise. The cheering of Tortoise at the finish-line wakes Hare up. The animals laugh "He may be slow, but he just kept going." There may be a second, more complicated version of the "finger-trails." I will watch for it!
