Abstract
Here is our seventh book by Jourcin for Bias. It differs from the others in that, as its title suggests, it does not offer texts but rather an image and a lesson from each of fifteen fables. Each fable gets a page. The simple morals stated are not always in the words of La Fontaine. Thus for FS, the statement is "Le trompeur est à son tour puni." For TMCM, we read "La table est bien servie… mais il y a Minet!" Several others quote La Fontaine exactly. I am not sure whether I have ever seen a book like this; it presupposes readers who know the full fables or are learning them elsewhere. The illustrations are typical of Jourcin and may well be repeated from his other fable books. 8½ x 11". The printer is Fournier in Paris. The back cover has the number 809.
