FIRST PARAGRAPH(S)|The Nebraska Supreme Court has held that "an owner of a motor vehicle, who knowingly entrusts it to an under-age, unlicensed minor in violation of statute, is guilty of negligence and liable for damages resulting from the negligent operation of the motor vehicle." In Wagner v. Mines the court decided that such an owner is liable to a guest only if the entrusted motor vehicle is operated in a grossly negligent manner. The plaintiff in Wagner was injured while riding in an automobile being driven by the defendant's daughter. The plaintiff sued the defendant for negligent entrustment of the automobile on the ground that the daughter's restricted driver's permit did not authorize her to operate a motor vehicle at the time of the accident...
