Abstract

Three Kinds of Responses|Guide: Motives|Before returning to the life of Jesus, we will take one more week to lay further foundation for our upcoming reflections. We know we will be drawn more deeply into our relationship with Jesus and that this will call us to greater freedom in the choices we will make for living our lives.|This week we will spend our background time reflecting on a simple case study. We will consider an imaginary but very real situation, to reflect on three ways of responding to it.|Readings:|1. He was Sad, Because he was Very Rich (Luke 18:18-30)|2. I Want to go with You, Lord (Luke 9:57-62)|3. You Cannot be the Slave of Two Masters (Matthew 6:24-34)|4. What I Once Thought was Valuable is Worthless (Philippians 3:7-16)|Prayers:|1. A Prayer to Begin Each Day|2. Lord, I am not Proud (Psalm 131)|3. May His Mission Come to Fulfillment in Each of Us (Certain as the Dawn by Peter van Breemen, S.J.)|4. Prayer for Detachment
