Abstract
This is Lito's German edition of the French "Fables de la Fontaine," published in about 1970. As I wrote there, two pages apiece for eleven fables, here presented in German prose. A pleasing large-format children's book. Among the illustrations, that of a fisherman in a newspaper hat is perhaps the most charming. The town and country mice, well contrasted in their clothing, have been enjoying champagne. This set of Gorde's illustrations traveled extensively!
