Abstract
This substantial paperback facsimile presents a book originally by Lacuve's own press in Melle in 1893. It contains 41 fables and then, starting on 171, their original French source texts. The dialect is far enough from mainstream French that I do not get far with it. There are also illustrations, of quite varied quality. A warning tells that an esteemed artist named Gautier contracted to illustrate this book and started on his task but then neither continued nor did he respond to the editor's urgent appeals. So they had to turn to a lesser artist, whose name is not mentioned. 243 pages. 6½" x 9½".
