Abstract
1. A handleless bowl 6" across featuring The Tortoise and the Hare with the first two verses of the fable. The tortoise is about to pass a "5" milepost. 2. A handleless bowl 6" across featuring The Milkmaid with four verses asking who of us does not build castles in Spain. Perrette holds her head in horror as she looks down at the dropped pitcher and the spilled milk. 3. A handleless bowl 6" across featuring "Les Animaux de La Fontaine." The lines on the back are "Ecoutez humains/Vous verrez que chez vous/J'ai puisé ces leçons." The illustration shows a child sitting before a large gathering of animals with the camel and elephant at their center. 4. A handled cup 3 ½" high, 4 ¾" across the cup, and 6" across if one includes bowl and the handle. It features The Grasshopper and the Ant with the last two verses of the fable. The ant and grasshopper are distinctive in their black and brown colorings, respectively. One extra exemplar. Also one Milkmaid cup, illustrated like the bowl above. 5. Three saucers with a continuous ivy ring close to the rim of each.
