Abstract

Half Way Home is a collection of essays dealing with issues of family, relationships, identity, and surviving trauma. In these essays, the author struggles to make peace with her father’s age and declining health, her younger brother’s sudden death at age twenty-four, her strained relationship with her mother and the miscarriage of her own child. She confronts these issues head-on, with a raw and unflinching eye and surprising details, all the while maintaining the voice of someone searching for lessons, for connection, for humor, and, ultimately, for healing—if and wherever it can be found.
