Here is a strong book of large and lively paintings presenting eleven traditional fables. 9½" x 13". 66 pages. Most fables have an introductory partial-page illustration and then a larger illustration involving two pages. The best of the illustrations are, I believe, "Ass and Lapdog" (24-5); "Mouse and Frog" (48-49); and "The Tall Tree and the Bush" (64-65). Other well-known fables include DS; "The Mouse Daughter"; "The Dog with a Bell"; "The Bat in War"; and "The Lion and Three Bulls."
